What to Bring

Picture

What to bring to an Ashram you may be wondering?

Keep in mind that an Ashram is a place where you come to let the old go, and test drive the new,  thus simple is best.  Bring only what you absolutely need.  Watch the mind for the things you "just cant live without"...because just maybe, you can.

Below are a couple of lists that will help you to pack, in both what to bring, and what to leave behind.

If you have any questions regarding the below we would be happy to chat to you, so you get the most out of your time here.

An Ashram is a place where we go to be absorbed into, not where we go to impose onto.  -Shivani

What To Bring...

  • Sleeping bag and pillow and an extra blanket if you get cold
  • Water bottle

  • Warm clothes/ layers as it can get nippy at night
  • Bug repellent (different times of year have different bug flows)

  • Sun hat/ Warm hat

  • Any prescription medication you might need. INCLUDING EPI-PEN if you are allergic to bees.
  • Yoga mat

  • Meditation cushion / blanket (if you need to lift your bottom for seated meditations)

  • Journal
  • Flashlight

  • An alarm clock (not your phone)
  • Clothes you're OK with getting dirty and moving about in.

  • Slip-on shoes  for outside (we go in and out a lot, and laces are time consuming and laborious.
If your stay is during the shoulder seasons,  we recommend Gumboots to avoid being upset with mud in the garden.
  • Towels and toiletries
  • Indoor footwear - Please note: We have a "no shoe policy" inside our communal and teaching space. Options other than bare feet are socks, socks with leather soles, or moccasins with leather soles. Kindly refrain from wearing any “indoor footwear” with solid/rubber soles.

What to leave at home...

  • Please no black clothes - Let your inner light shine!  Shivani will be happy to explain this to anyone curious while you are here.

  • Chewing Gum
  • Alcohol
  • Drugs  - this includes marijuana
